Moroccan FM reaffirms commitment to support CAR's stability

Rabat, Morocco (PANA) - Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, reaffirmed Thursday in Rabat, the country's commitment to accompany Central African Republic (CAR) for its stability and future development.

Mr Bourita made the remark while speaking to journalists at the end of his talks with his CAR counterpart, Mrs Sylvie Baïpo-Temon, and the signing of three cooperation agreements between the two countries.

Morocco currently has 762 peacekeepers under the United Nations Stabilization Mission in CAR (MINUSCA).

"Morocco pays a vibrant tribute to the President of the CAR who, thanks to his determination and courage, was able to reach an agreement with armed groups, as well as he is in the process of ensuring the success of the upcoming elections which will be historic for the future of this country," said Mr Bourita.

He said Morocco's action affirms solidarity with the Central African people, within the framework of technical cooperation and academic training.

Referring to the academic and health cooperation between the two countries, the minister recalled that "130 scholarships are awarded each year for the training of Central Africans in Morocco and that actions are carried out at the local level, particularly for the rehabilitation of the hospital in Bangui by the Kingdom".

Regarding the three cooperation agreements signed by Morocco and CAR, Mr Bourita said that "they strengthen the legal framework of our relations."
