More than 32,000 people arrested by police in 2019 in Mali

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - In 2019, some 32,653 people were arrested by the Malian National Police and 15,772 brought before the courts, the Directorate General of the National Police told PANA on Thursday.

The 35,123 patrols carried out throughout Mali also seized 10,662 two-wheel vehicles and 784 four-wheel vehicles, according to police, which recorded 17,952 accidents resulting in more than 10,000 injuries, including 3,180 in Bamako district only.

Three new police stations have been inaugurated and 13 more are under construction, the national police said.

According to the Malian Police Directorate-General, large seizures of illicit goods as well as weapons and rockets were made in 2019.
