Media Content Monitoring Authority releases bi-annual report

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Libyan Prime Minister Abdelhamid Al-Dbaiba on Thursday oversaw the announcement of the first report of the General Authority for Media Content Monitoring.

It is part of the conclusion of activities of the conference "Challenges facing media content monitoring bodies in the region" organized by the authority in Tripoli.

The chairman of the authority, Jallel Othman, said the report, which covers the first six months of 2022, found more than 15,000 professional failures in 26 media outlets surveyed.

This was contained in a statement issued by the prime minister's press office, which did not specify the nature of these grievances.

The minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, Walid Al-Lafi, stressed that the national unity government continues, under the directives of its president, to sponsor the efforts of the commission and develop its tools, calling on media institutions to deal positively with the report.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication in Tunisia, Noureddine Lajmi, representatives of the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication in Morocco and several Libyan journalists.

It should be noted that the Council of Ministers issued the decree on the creation of the General Authority for the Supervision of Media Content in 2021, as part of the recommendations of the Committee for the Restructuring of the Media Sector.
