Mauritius: Mauritian candidate Jean-Claude de l'Estrac campaigns in Senegal

Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - Senegalese Prime Minister Mohammed Dionne Tuesday received the Mauritian candidate for the post of Secretary General of the Francophonie, Jean-Claude de l'Estrac in Dakar, Senegal, PANA learnt from official sources.

De L'Estrac is presently the General Secretary of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) that comprises Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, La Réunion and the Comoros islands in South-west Indian Ocean.

''The Mauritian project about the future is also that of Senegal, ''the Mauritian candidate told Mr. Dionne.

In Dakar, de L'Estrac also met with Penda Mbow, Adviser to Senegalese President Macky Sall.

He is next due in Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Benin, and Gabon.

With a total of 77 member states, the International Organisation of La Francophonie represents one of the biggest linguistic zones in the world.

Apart from common language, its members also share the humanist values promoted by the French language.
