Mauritania hosts conference of G5 Sahel ministers

Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) – The meeting of the Council of G5 Sahel ministers, preparing for the sixth ordinary summit of Heads of State, due for Tuesday, have opened in Nouakchott, official sources have told PANA.

The meeting brings together the foreign, Defence and Economy ministers from G5 Sahel countries: Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Chad.

On the agenda are priority programmes and projects in the security and development sectors and issues related to the international management of the organization.

The meeting is taking place against the background of recurrence of terrorist violence in Sahel.

G5 Sahel aims at the coordination of anti-terrorist actions and development efforts.
