Mauritania: Dismissed employees of Int'l security company demand unpaid 2-year salaries

Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) - Nearly 200 Mauritanian workers, former employees of "G4 S", an international security company with headquarters in London, England, say they have been chasing their unpaid salaries for the past two years, PANA learned Wednesday from those concerned, who gathered at the Nouakchott Center to demand heir rights.

The workers were dismissed in 2018 when the company stopped operations in Mauritania.

The workers who had operated for 10 years "were trying to organize a sit-in to attract national and international awareness about their fate, given the slow processing of their case," said Tapa Gaye, a member of the workers' union.

In a letter to the Mauritanian President, the dismissed employees demanded many rights, including "the recall of overtime, the calculation of rights in accordance with the Labour Code (CT), compensation for unfair dismissal, all bonuses, damages, rights due to them until retirement.
