Malian President IBK attends fund raising round table for children

Bamako, Mali (PANA) -  Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, on the sidelines of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on Development in Africa (TICAD7), took part in a fund raising round table for children and vulnerable populations, according to a statement issued by the Malian presidency in Bamako on Saturday.

During the event, organized by GAVI ,  President Keita highlighted the positive impact of GAVI on improving the vaccination rate of children and vulnerable groups in Mali, especially children aged  below 5 years, whose care , as part of the treatment of malaria is made free as well as prenatal vaccination for young pregnant women.

The president also mentioned the free treatment of the elderly, thanks to GAVI's support, with a particular emphasis on bringing vaccination centres closer to the population and the management of several types of vaccines through GAVI's help.

He called on the body to continue its efforts to save more lives, especially in early childhood.

GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance for Prevention, Protection and Prosperity, was established in 2000.

According to statistics close to the institution, GAVI must mobilize at least US$7.4 billion in additional resources for the 2021-2025 period to achieve its ambitious programme.
