Mali's opposition umbrella meets military junta

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - A delegation of the June 5-Movement of Patriotic Forces (M5-RFP), the main umbrella group in the protests against ousted President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and his regime on Saturday met the military junta in Kati, 15 km from Bamako.

The meeting followed its criticisms of the National Committee for the Salvation of the People (CNSP) junta for not inviting it by name to a meeting convened on Saturday but postponed sine die to discuss the organization of a political transition.

According to reliable sources the two parties have cleared up misunderstandings and the M5-RFP intends to be at the centre of key decisions with the junta to manage the transition.

Speaking at the end of the meeting an official of the M5-RFP, Issa Kaou Ndim, said they would move forward in the interest of the Malian people.
