Mali leader apologises to citizens in France for not meeting them during his visit

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - The President of the Transition in Mali, Bah N'Daw, has apologised to Malians in France for not meeting them during his visit to Paris from 26 to 28 January, a statement by the Malian presidency said on Wednesday.

"President Bah N'daw sincerely regrets that, mainly because of the COVID-19 measures, he did not have the honour of meeting the Malian diaspora," the statement said.

"He humbly apologises to Malians in France, whose high patriotic sense he salutes and assures them of his deep respect and hopes to meet them very soon."

Several Malians in France have denounced what happened in social media posts, saying they had been snubbed.

Since his accession to power five months ago, N'Daw has met Malian nationals in countries he visits.
