Mali, lead country for AU theme of 2021

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - The 34th ordinary summit of the African Union (AU), which opened Saturday, has named Mali as the lead country for the theme of the year 2021: "Arts, culture and heritage: Levers to build the Africa we want."

In 2020, the former Malian president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita was designated by his peers as "Champion of the African Union for the arts, culture and heritage."

The President of the Transition in Mali, Colonel Bah N'Daw (Rtd), took part in this virtual summit in the presence of Prime Minister Moctar Ouane, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Zeïni Moulaye, and other personalities.

The Prime Minister, who spoke on behalf of the President of the Transition, reaffirmed that Mali is the leading country for the theme of the year 2021.

In this regard, Mr. Ouane gave the assurance that despite the change of leadership of the country over the past year, Mali is honoured and resolutely committed to pursue this mission entrusted to it by the AU Assembly.
