Mali govt procures Vehicles for security forces to fight insecurity

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - The Malian government has procured 222 vehicles as part of its plan to equip security forces -- police, gendarmerie, civil protection and national guard, PANA learnt from an official source.

The vehicles, all pick ups, were handed over to the forces on Tuesday in Bamako in the presence of Prime Minister Moctar Ouane.

Purchased from the national budget, the vehicles are part of the implementation of the orientation and programming of internal security and in line with the guidelines of the Roadmap of the Transition and Action Plan of the government (PAG), said  Minister of Security, Col. Modibo Koné.

Worth CFAF 446 billion and covering a period of five years (2017-2021), the programme is set to meet all needs of the security forces in terms of recruitment and training of personnel, equipment and infrastructure.

Addressing the heads of the security forces, Colonel Koné urged more perseverance through the continuation and strengthening of actions to fight crime in all its forms.

According to Controller General of Police Soulaïmane Traoré, "these vehicles will make motorised patrols more operational in order to fight effectively against delinquency and crime.
