Mahamat pays courtesy call on President Masisi

Gaborone, Botswana (PANA) - Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi on Monday met with African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat who was on a visit to the country.

 

President Masisi thanked Mahamat for the gesture and his visit to Botswana saying that he has been a pillar and intellectual foresight in the African Union since assuming the chair of the Commission in 2017.

 

Mr. Mahamat had paid a courtesy call on President Masisi at Manong Game Lodge, 93 km from the capital, Gaborone.


The President reiterated Botswana's commitment to the AU and the country's readiness to serve the Commission for the advancement of the African agenda, particularly Agenda 2063.

 

Mr. Mahamat congratulated President Masisi on his recent win of the general elections, adding that Botswana remained a great model of good governance with transparent elections.

 

As such, Africa continued to benefit a lot from Botswana as a model of good governance, peace and mediation, he said.
