Lomé hosts 2nd meeting of Mali Transition Support Group

Lomé, Togo (PANA) - The Togolese capital, Lomé, will next Monday host the second meeting of the Transition Support Group in Mali (GST-Mali), PANA learnt on Friday from the Togolese Foreign Affairs ministry.

According to a note published in Lomé, the meeting, after the one held on November 30 in Bamako, aims to "monitor and evaluate the implementation of conclusions of the inaugural meeting" and will take stock of "the progress of political and institutional reforms, progress in the preparation of general elections, the economic situation as well as the analysis of the situation on humanitarian, defence and security issues".

The GST-Mali, set up by the African Union on October 9 at the 954th meeting of the Peace and Security Council, has as its main mission to "support the transitional government" and the Malian people in the "implementation of the Transition Charter and its Roadmap adopted after  negotiations under the aegis of ECOWAS".
