Liquid Telecom is official partner of MIT in Inclusive Innovation 2019 competition

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) - The pan-African telecommunications operator, Liquid Telecom, has been selected as the official partner in Africa of the American Research Institute and University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT), for the 2019 Inclusive Innovation Challenge (IIC), according to an official source.

The partnership with Liquid Telecom will focus on promoting the IIC in Africa and enrolling African entrepreneurs and inventors to participate in the competition.

The 2019 edition of the IIC, which will take place on five continents, will put entrepreneurs in four categories focused on providing solutions for people to take advantage of the technological age. The categories are: access to technology, financial inclusion, skills development related to existing opportunities, income enhancement and job creation.

The total amount of the awards is USD 1.6 million, including USD 250,000 for each of the winning start-ups. Registration for the submission of applications is open until May 9.

The regional winners will be announced on 23 July when the World Prize will be awarded to MIT on 21 November.

Established since 2016, 3,000 organizations from over 100 countries have competed for the CII. For the 2018 edition, 100 winning start-ups received USD 3.5 million.
