Libyan journalist liberated by Tripoli security services after three days of detention

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Zied Al-Warfalli, a journalist at the television news Al-Ghad and the cameraman accompanying him, were freed after three days of detention by a security unit, the foreign media department at the Libyan ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Accord announced here Sunday.

The TV news channel broadcasting in Arabic is based in Egypt and Great Britain.

In a statement, the foreign media department said the arrest of the journalist and his cameraman was carried out by a competent security unit for reasons linked to the absence of authorization for work or permit for that television team, which was a violation of the law and regulations in force in Libya.   

"After carrying out successfully the needed investigations to the security authorities, the journalist engaged to communicate with his media group to present all documents necessary to fulfill his judicial actions," the statement said.

The foreign media departments of the foreign affairs ministry reiterated its appeal to all foreign journalists and media institutions to communicate with the management and take the needed measures to facilitate their media responsibilities inside the Libyan territory. 

The television team was arrested following its participation in the news conference of the prime minister of the national unity government, Abdelhamid Al-Dbaiba, on Thursday in Tripoli.
