Libyan govt declares 26 April National Libyan Women's Day

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Libya's internationally-recognised Government of National Unity (GNU) has adopted a decree declaring 26 April as National Day of Libyan Women, in honour of their role in the country and in promoting their empowerment.

The decree, signed on Saturday by the Prime Minister of GNU, Abdelhamid Al-Dbaiba, stipulates that this measure comes into force from the date of its publication.

Earlier, Mr. Al-Dbaiba, during his participation in the Forum of Women Supporting the Elections, organised by the Office of the Libyan Minister of Women's Affairs, stressed the need to activate the role of women in the elections issue and their real participation in it.

During the women's forum under the theme, "Together for the elections", Mr. Al-Dbaiba stressed the distinguished role Libyan women play in all fields, including politics, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Press Office.
