Libyan army chief of staff visits Mauritania

Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) - The Mauritanian minister of Defence, Hanana ould Sidi, Friday received a Libyan military delegation chaired by the army chief of staff, Army general Mohamed Ali Hadad, the state-run news agency (AMI) reported here.

The meeting discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fight against terrorism and organised crime, as well as the ceasefire signed recently in Tunisia by the Libyan warring parties.

The Libyan military delegation also visited the seat of the general army staff (EMGA) “within the framework of the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in several domains, as well as the opening of channels of communication between Libya and G5 Sahel”.

G5 Sahel is a sub-regional organisation dedicated to the fight against terrorism, organised crime and the coordination of development efforts.

It is made up of Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Chad, with Mauritanian President El Ghazouani as the current chairman.
