Libyan airlines should not fly foreigners without a visa issued by Tripoli

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The President of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Ministry of Communications of the National Unity Government, Nasreddine Chaeb al-Ain, has asked airlines operating in Libya not to fly any non-Libyan coming to a Libyan airport "except the passenger obtained a visa issued by the Department of Passports, Nationalities and Foreigners in Tripoli".

In a circular issued on November 12 and reported by Al-Wassat newspaper on Wednesday, Al-Ain stressed the need to "ensure that Libyan embassies issuing the visas in Libya are accredited by the Foreign Ministry of the National Unity Government".

Al-Ain also referred to a circular issued on November 11 by the head of the Department of Passports, Nationalities and Foreigners, which forbids any foreigner to board the aircraft if he has not obtained a visa issued by the Authority of passports, nationality and foreigners.

The President of the Civil Aviation Authority also referred to the letter of November 10 from the Deputy Minister of Communications, Aviation and Air Transport regarding the non-admission of foreign travelers to Libyan territory without a visa or authorization issued by the Department of Passports, Nationalities and Foreigners of the Ministry of the Interior of the Government of the National Unity, stressing the need to respect this procedure.

The transitional government's Transport and Communications Authority on Wednesday forced airlines operating in Libya to land at Misrata and Maitiga Airports from Tripoli to Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Sudan at Benina Airport in Benghazi (East) to complete security and customs procedures.
