Libyan PM meets with military commission members in Sirte

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The Prime Minister of the Libyan national unity government, Abdelhamid Al-Dbaiba, on Monday met with members of the joint 5+5 military commission in Sirte (center) to enquire about their needs, the press office of the chief of government said.

A press release by the press office said that Mr Al-Dbaiba "discussed the opening of the coastal route and its security plan thereafter".

Earlier on Monday, the chairman of the presidential council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, the two vice-presidents, Abdallah Al-Lafi and Moussa Al-Koni, and Prime Minister Abdelhamid Al-Dbaiba arrived in Sirte for an oath taking ceremony, also involving 35 ministers before Parliament in the eastern city of Tobruk.

The chairman of the presidential council, his two assistants and the chief of the national unity will attend half of the ongoing meetings of the joint 5+5 military commission in Sirte, before being joined by international observers. 

This is the third meeting of the military commission within the framework of the the eighth round in the presence of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to discuss the terms of agreement during the previous meeting, including the departure of foreign mercenaries and fighters from Libya, as required by the ceasefire agreement signed in Geneva on 23 October 2020, as well as the results of the work of the mine-clearing team and the clearing of the war relics on the route linking Sirte and Misrata.
