Libyan Oil and Gas Minister highlights country's contribution to easing global energy crisis

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Libya's Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, has said Libya exports most of its crude oil, as well as natural gas, thus helping to alleviate the global energy crisis.

In a speech via video conference on Friday at the World Summit on "Energy Security for a Prosperous Future" hosted by India, Aoun have the assurance that Libya's future is promising, whether in oil wealth or other resources, according to a statement issued by the ministry.

"We call on friendly countries to invest in the country, as well as the return of companies that did not return after being pushed out by the Force Majeure after 2011," he said.

The Libyan oil minister said that Libya seeks to work with partners on the basis of parity, equality and mutual benefit.

He added that the Libya believes that the transition to clean energy should not be at the expense of the African continent, where more than half of the population has not seen electricity in their lives, and which has the right to a decent life and to exploit its wealth before moving to clean energy.

The Libyan official said that his country has enough sunlight to export huge amounts of electricity to other countries.

It has also launched projects to produce electricity from solar energy and other ambitious projects in various fields of energy.
