Libya reduces number of representatives at Arab League meetings

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Foreign Ministry of the government of national accord (GNA) on Tuesday announced that Libya has reduced the number of its representatives at Arab League meetings to protest what it called "the double standards" used by the Arab organization.

On Tuesday, the Ministry criticized the "double standards" in force in the Arab League and reduced its representation at the Arab ministerial meeting held on the Libyan crisis held in Egypt.

The announcement came in a series of tweets published by the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For his part, the Libyan delegate to the Arab League, Saleh Al-Chammakhi, said during his meeting with the organization that "those who take peace initiatives should be at the same distance from everyone in Libya and not to deal with the legitimate government with declarations similar to the declaration of war on a sovereign state and a member of the United Nations", alluding to the threat of military intervention launched by the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah Al- Sissi.

He continued: "We assure the countries which support Haftar and which now call for dialogue that your place is in the arena of international justice by what you have committed as war crimes and against humanity".

Al-Chammakhy added that it is not a secret that the countries supporting Haftar have facilitated and obtained logistical support for the transportation of terrorist extremists and hired mercenaries in Libya, including the Wagner Group of Russia and some neighboring countries.

The Libyan delegate stressed that after defeating the aggression in Tripoli, "we have started to hear countries that support Haftar calling for dialogue" after having hampered peace efforts and abandoned ceasefire efforts.

He stressed that the Libyan army forces "succeeded in defeating the Haftar terrorist militias" and liberated the cities they controlled, the last of which was Tarhouna (120 km south of Tripoli).
