Libya condemns irruption of minister of Israeli occupation authorities in Esplanade of Mosques in Al-Quds

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government, Wednesday condemned the incursion of the extremist Israeli minister of the Israeli occupation government of the Esplanade of the Mosques of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) under the protection of security forces in an attempt to change their historical and legal status.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said that "this attempt constitutes a provocation of the feelings of all Muslims and a blatant violation of the relevant international resolutions.

The ministry said that while denouncing this "despicable" act, it placed full responsibility on the Israeli occupation for the consequences of the continuation of such daily aggressions against the city of Al-Quds, its inhabitants, as well as its holy sites.

In its statement, the ministry reaffirmed Libya's principled position towards the just Palestinian cause, calling on "the international community to assume its responsibilities to put an end to these Israeli violations that fuel conflict and extremism as well as instability in the region.

On Tuesday, the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, visited the Esplanade of the Mosques in East Jerusalem, under the protection of Israeli security forces.

It should be noted that by virtue of its historical status, the city of East Jerusalem, occupied and annexed by Israel, which houses the mosque of Al-Quds, the third holiest place in Islam and the sacred site of Judaism, must be determined by negotiations between the two parties in accordance with resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

This incursion has been widely condemned by major powers such as the United States and France as well as most Arab and Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia and Turkey, considering that the historical status of the city cannot be changed in a unilateral way.
