Libya chairs 119th ministerial session of Council for Arab Economic Unity

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Libya chaired the 119th ministerial session of the Council for Arab Economic Unity, attended by ministers and representatives of member states, which was devoted to examining a new roadmap for development in the Arab region.

The session, which was held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, Egypt, was chaired on the Libyan side by the representative of the Ministry of Economy and Trade in the government of national unity, Issam al-Aoul, the Libyan news agency (LANA) reported on Friday.

In an opening speech, Mr. al-Aoul stressed the importance of reactivating the mechanisms for joint Arab economic action, calling for the creation of specialized committees to monitor the implementation of economic decisions and projects, thereby contributing to the achievement of the desired development objectives.

The Secretary General of the Council, Ambassador Mohamadi Ahmed al-Ni, recalled the historic dimension of the session, stressing that the Council was one of the oldest frameworks for economic cooperation in the Arab world.

He stressed the importance of providing political and material support to strengthen the process of Arab economic integration.

The session witnessed the adoption of the recommendations issued by the preparatory committees and the follow-up of the implementation of previous decisions, within the framework of advancing Arab economic coordination efforts towards a comprehensive development vision that meets the aspirations of the Arab peoples.
