Libya attends Arab Social Development Forum in Doha, Qatar

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Minister for Social Affairs, Wafa Aboubaker Al-Kilani, took part in the High-Level Arab Forum on Multidimensional Social Development, which began work on Thursday in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The forum, which will discuss the priorities of joint Arab social development work, is being held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

The Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, ministers and heads of social affairs in the Arab countries and representatives of the relevant regional and international organizations are attending the meeting.

The aim is to discuss important issues that are a priority for joint Arab work on social development, foremost among which are the Second Arab Decade for Persons with Disabilities 2023-2032, and the Second Arab Report on Multidimensional Poverty, said a statement from the ministry.

The Libyan Minister for Social Affairs, Wafa Al-Kilani, chaired the forum's third working session on the Second Arab Decade for Persons with Disabilities (2024-2032), a qualitative regional change aimed at strengthening integration and guaranteeing rights.

In her speech at the opening of the session, she noted that at national level in Libya, and with the support of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, the Ministry had been working on the implementation of numerous programmes aimed at promoting the rights of people with disabilities and their integration in economic, social and political aspects.

The forum's agenda also includes topics for discussion on legislation, social and educational services, guaranteeing independent living for people with disabilities, as well as participation in political and economic life and in various activities.

At the end of the forum, the results and recommendations on the topics discussed will be submitted to the next Arab summit.
