Libya attends 44th session of AU Executive Council meeting in Addis Ababa
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, responsible for Political Affairs, and his accompanying delegation attended the 44th session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) held on 14 -15 February in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
For two days, the foreign ministers of the AU countries discussed the institutional reform of the African Union, reports of the sub-committees responsible for financial and administrative issues, the monitoring of the implementation of Agenda 2063, the partnerships and strategic strategies of the African Union and its membership of international groups, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Libyan ministry.
In his speech, the Libyan deputy minister informed the African ministers of Libya's efforts to speed up the activation of the Tripoli-based African Investment Bank, as this initiative presented by the Libyan State was part of the provision of financial resources for flexible education systems.
The Libyan official also spoke on the report of the Permanent Representatives Committee, stressing the lack of representation of certain countries in the issue of jobs affiliated to the African Union and the difficulty faced by citizens of these countries, particularly Libya, in joining and obtaining jobs despite the presence of skills, aptitudes and experience.
He stressed the importance of providing facilities for the least represented countries. As part of the activation of the work of African institutions, the ministers will elect the members of certain continental bodies and committees, in addition to approving certain legal instruments and protocols.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr. Issa met with the foreign ministers of Algeria and Mauritania, and exchanged views and opinions on the issues on the Council's agenda.
