Libya and Tunisia agree to increase frequency of flights between them
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Minister of Communications, Mohamed al-Chahoubi, and the Tunisian Minister of Transport, Rabi Majidi, on Wednesday signed an agreement to increase the number of flights between the two countries and on linking their airports.
The agreement signed in Tunis on the sidelines of the visit of Libyan Prime Minister Abdelhamid al-Dbaiba, also includes the development of the common land border crossing of Ras Jedir, the inauguration of new corridors and the launch of a maritime line, according to a statement from the Libyan ministry.
The two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the progress of their bilateral cooperation and the ways to improve it in all fields of transport and communications.
The two sides also discussed ways to improve the transit conditions of their citizens and goods through land border crossings, expressing their willingness to cooperate to enhance investment opportunities.
They agreed to exchange experiences and benefit from the Tunisian experience in the field of training and capacity building in the areas of maritime, port, civil aviation, land and rail transport.
This is in addition to developing a common practical vision for the establishment of a port station for food security, to process and store foodstuffs for the benefit of the two countries and neighbouring countries, and to strengthen regular public transport lines between the two countries.
The Libyan Prime Minister on Wednesday began a two-day visit to Tunisia, accompanied by a large delegation.
He has met with the Tunisian President, Kaïs Saïed, and held talks with the Tunisian Prime Minister, Najla Bouden.
