Libya, Spain to prepare memorandum of cooperation on security

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The Libyan Minister of the Interior of the Government of National Unity, Khaled Mazen, has agreed with his Spanish counterpart, Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gómez, to prepare a memorandum of joint cooperation on security matters.

During a meeting on Monday on the sidelines of a workshop in Toledo, Spain, on the modalities of international support to the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration programme the two officials discussed the prospects for joint cooperation in security matters, according to a statement from the Libyan Ministry of the Interior.

They discussed training programmes for the development and qualification of security and police officers at the Ministry of the Interior, and the benefit to be drawn from Spanish expertise.

They also addressed the facilitation of procedures for Libyan citizens to obtain visas from the Spanish embassy in Libya, in addition to efforts to return stolen Libyan archaeological pieces.
