Libya: Libyan jets continue to pound Ras Jedir border post

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – Determined to "liberate" the capital city of Tripoli from rebel armed groups, Libyan fighter jets Sunday continued pounding enemy positions as government ground troops advance, PANA reported, quoting security sources.

The air strikes, carried out by the fighter jets of the Libyan air force, has disrupted activities on the common Libyan-Tunisian border post of Ras Jedir, with the Libyan government bent on cutting off supplies to the rebels.

The air strikes began a few days ago after the expiration of an ultimatum given by the troops loyal to Gen. Khalifa Haftar, backed by the Libyan armed forces, to the forces of "Fajr Libya", a coalition of armed groups from Misrata and Islamists.

The interim government in Libya said that its troops were now on the outskirts of Tripoli.
