Libya, EU discuss cooperation on immigration, fight against terrorism

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The European Union (EU) ambassador in Libya, José Sabadell, on Tuesday called on the Libyan minister of the Interior of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bachagha with their discussions focusing on joint cooperation on migration, the fight against terrorism, organised crime and training programmes.

A communiqué issued by the Interior ministry said that the meeting in Tripoli between Mr Bachagha and Mr Sabadell discussed themes related to training programmes which the EU can provide to improve the efficiency of the security staff.

It said the meeting also discussed illegal immigration and the joint cooperation to fight against the phenomenon, in addition to matters of common interest.

The ambassador expressed the EU's willingness to support the Interior ministry in the fight against terrorism and organised crime, praising the efforts of the ministry to ensure security and stability.
