Kenyatta in Sochi for Russia-Africa Summit

Nairobi, Kenya (PANA) - Kenyan President Uhuru  Kenyatta on Thursday arrived in Sochi, Russia, for the First Russia-Africa Summit.

Kenyatta, accompanied by First Lady Margaret, arrived from Japan where he was a special guest of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito on Wednesday.

The Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU), said that on the sidelines of the Summit, Kenyatta will hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Summit is being attended by over 40 Heads of State and Government.

Kenya's bilateral ties with Russia have been strengthening over the years.

The Kenyan delegation will pursue trade and investment partnerships especially in the Big 4 Agenda focus areas of health, affordable housing, food security and manufacturing.

On arrival, the President was received at Sochi International Airport by senior Russian Government officials and Kenyan Chargé d'Affaires in Moscow, Ms. Winnie Mwanjala.

President Kenyatta later attended a welcoming ceremony where he was officially received by President Putin.

Kenyatta is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma and other senior government officials.
