Kenya faces Ghana in Olympic qualifier

Nairobi, Kenya (PANA) - Kenyan senior women national team will face off with Ghana in the third round of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics football qualifier .

The Ghana side, also known as Black Queens, thrashed Gabon 5-0 on aggregate following a 2-0 second leg victory in Accra on Tuesday.

Kenya beat Malawi 5-3 on aggregate to qualify for the third round, where they face Ghana.

The first leg will be in Accra on September 30 with Kenya hosting the return fixture in Nairobi on October 4.

Africa has one automatic slot in the Olympics with the winner of the tournament set to earn a ticket to Tokyo.

The losing  finalist will head to a play-off against the second placed team from the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).

Kenya coach David Ouma believes his young guns can go step by step in the competition, saying he is pleased with their improvement and fighting spirit.

Kenya's big dream is to qualify for Tokyo 2020. The East Africans have never qualified for the Olympic football, in both men and women's categories.
