Jerandi and Kubis want to advance Libya's political process

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - United Nations efforts to advance the political process in Libya were the main focus of talks on Monday between the Tunisian Foreign Minister, Othman Jerandi, and the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Libya and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Jan Kubis, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.

Mr. Jerandi reaffirmed the constant commitment of his country to support UN efforts to achieve a comprehensive solution to the Libyan crisis, adding that Tunisia is ready to provide all the necessary support to the special envoy and UNSMIL.

The minister recalled "the solidity of the excellent, fraternal and cultural relations that link the Tunisian and Libyan peoples," stressing the importance that his country attaches to the success of the Libyan political process and his wish to see this "brotherly" country restore its stability, which will has a positive impact on Tunisia and the entire region.

According to the statement, Mr. Kubis welcomed the rich exchanges he has had with Tunisian officials since his appointment at the head of the Mission, thanking the country for its continued support to the United Nations and the UN Mission in Libya.
