Guinea has recorded six deaths related to Ebola fever

Conakry, Guinea (PANA) - Guinea recorded as of last Friday a cumulative total of 11 confirmed cases of Ebola virus disease, four probable cases and six deaths, the daily bulletin of the National Health Security Agency (ANSS), received by PANA said on Monday.

It said that 432 contacts are being monitored, while 306 people have been vaccinated, made up of 40 in Coyah, about 40 km from the capital and 266 in Nzérékoré in the south, where the first cases were detected in the sub-prefecture, Gouécké.

The ANSS recently announced the arrival of the second batch of vaccines against the Ebola epidemic, consisting of 8,640 doses, thus completing a total of 20,000 doses.

At the request of President Alpha Condé, France last week offered a large consignment of protection kits for medical personnel deployed in the field.

As part of the follow-up of contacts of the Ebola virus disease, the ANSS has decided to deploy medical teams at the land borders and Conakry airport to closely monitor all travellers' movements.

The Ebola virus disease was first detected in 2013 in Forest Guinea before it spread throughout the country, as well as in Sierra Leone and Liberia where claiming more than 25,000 lives.
