Gaza war: Top US, Egyptian, Saudi diplomats discuss ceasefire in Gaza

Washington, DC, US (PANA) - US Secretary of State Antony  Blinken on Friday discussed with Egyptain and Saudi foreign ministers efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza for a period of at least six weeks as part of a deal that would release hostages held by Hamas and surge humanitarian assistance.  

A statement by the US State Department said Mr. Blinken, in separate calls with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, "underscored close coordination with regional partners to promote calm during the holy month of Ramadan and prepare for the post-conflict phase".  

The top US diplomat affirmed continued cooperation among international partners to protect freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. 

The three men also discussed efforts to end the conflict in Sudan and prevent further widespread civilian harm, the statement said.
