Gaza war: Mauritius appeals for humanitarian support for Gazans

Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - The Mauritius Government on Thursday called on the population to demonstrate solidarity and humanitarian support to the Gaza population, by contributing to the national appeal for the people of Palestine.

The Government Information Services (GIS) quoted the Deputy Prime Minister, Steven Obeegadoo, as highlighting the suffering in Gaza from the ongoing hostilities being unleashed by Israel with the people now facing famine due to the considerable destruction of infrastructure, and restricted access to humanitarian aid and food.

He spoke of the alarming catastrophic famine situation, food insecurity and malnutrition affecting a large portion of the population, and urged collective action to reach out to help the suffering population on humanitarian grounds.
