Gaza War: US, Saudi FMs discuss need to protect civilians in Gaza, increase humanitarian aid

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (PANA) - US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud with their discussions focusing on the urgent need to protect all civilians in Gaza and immediately increase humanitarian assistance to those in need.  

This is as diplomatic efforts continue to end the bloody war in Gaza in which some 32,000 people, more than half being children and women, have been killed, and more than 74,000 injured, since 7 October when Hamas fired missiled into Israel.

A press release by the US State Deoartment said Mr Blinken stressed the importance of continued close coordination with regional and international partners on resolving the conflict in Gaza and preparing for the post-conflict phase.  

"The Secretary emphasised the United States’ commitment to achieving sustained peace through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with security guarantees for Israel," the press release said.

The two officials also also discussed the importance of ending the conflicts in Sudan and Yemen.
