Gambia hosts Africa leadership business forum

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - The Gambia on Thursday hosted the Africa Leadership Business Forum, which brought together key figures from the public and private sectors, to discuss way forward for intra-Africa Trade.

It was held under the theme: "Cross-border Trade and Investment opportunities in Africa." 

In her opening statement, the Gambian Vice President, Dr Isatou Touray, said cooperation through trade is one of the fundamental and dignifying ways that Africa can improve resilience.

According to the vice president, the volume of trade from Africa to the rest of the world averaged $760 billion in current prices, in the period 2015-2017, compared to $481 billion from Oceania, $4,100 billion from Europe, $5,140 billion from America and $6,801 billion from Asia.

Dr. Touray said the picture is a poor when one compares that to the volume of trade among African countries during the same period.
