GNA Forces carry out six raids against Marshal Haftar's forces

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Armed forces affiliated with Libya's internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) carried out six airstrikes on Tuesday against positions held by Marshal Khalifa Haftar's forces south of Tripoli, the government spokesperson, Col. Mohamed Qunoun, said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The air force carried out six raids directly targeting four Emirati vehicles and an armoured vehicle as well as a vehicle carrying ammunition, after our forces pushed the Haftar militias away from civilian districts", he said, claiming that "the forces have inflicted a great loss" on Khalifa Haftar's militias.

He also said that the GNA forces made advances in the Yarmouk, Khalla and Ain Zara axes south of Tripoli and drove away elements of Haftar's militias. "We have not recorded any loss on our side".

Haftar's national army has been waging a military campaign since 4 April to take control of Tripoli, the seat of the GNA led by Fayez Sarraj, which, for its part, has launched a "Volcano of Wrath" operation to deal with the attack.

The clashes have so far left 1,093 people dead, 6,000 injured and 120,000 displaced fleeing the fighting areas, according to a UN tally.
