Forum on gender equality opens in Tunis

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA)   -   A Forum on Gender Equality organized by the Tunisian Ministry of Women, Children, Family and Elderly Persons, in collaboration with UN Women and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is underway here.

Reliable sources told PANA that more than 500 high-level experts were attending the forum, which would address women, peace, security, creation, and technology.

Tunisian Minister of Women, Children, Family and Elderly persons, Naziha Lâabidi, in her opening address, said it presented a “real opportunity to give a true and accurate picture of the principle of equality in terms of opportunities offered between women and men in Tunisia”.

She said the forum would provide an opportunity to work on the principle of equal opportunities for both sexes in the economic, political and social fields.

It will also focus on gender equality against the backdrop of changes in local governance and ways to develop the skills of women municipal presidents to involve them in urban development while harnessing their powers to create fairer cities in the distribution of goods.
