Former South African ambassador seeks to unite Africans

Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) – Ebrahim Rasool, former premier of Western Cape in South Africa has launched a new organisation aimed at uniting Africans living in the country.

"One Africa" aims to tackle xenophobia, which is rife in many parts of the country and has left numerous foreign nationals dead over the past decade.

Rasool, who has also served as South Africa’s ambassador to the United States, said he plans to work with African communities, governments and businesses to strengthen social and economic cohesion across the continent.

“We are devastated by the violence, the looting and killings done against Africans by South Africans,” he said, adding that 'One Africa' aims to build entrepreneurial skills among Africans.

Rasool has worked as a special advisor to former President Thabo Mbeki and as a Member of the National Assembly.
