Former Gabonese Transport Minister Ndounangoye arrested by gendarmerie

Libreville, Gabon (PANA) - Former Gabonese Transport Minister Justin Ndounangoye, who is suspected of embezzlement of public funds, was arrested on Thursday evening, as part of an anti-corruption operation, the national gendarmerie told PANA on Friday.

The former Minister, who is an elected MP of the city of Franceville, in southeastern Gabon, had his parliamentary immunity removed on Thursday following a vote in the National Assembly in which 113 of the 121 MPs present approved of it.

He will be tried for embezzlement of public funds and money laundering revealed during his hearing before MPs.

A total of 5 ministers have been arrested and are awaiting trial by the Special Criminal Court.
