Former DR Congo President Joseph Kabila subjected to travel ban

Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) - The flight of Joseph Kabila, Honorary President of the DRC and leader of the Common Front for Congo (FCC) party, to Lubumbashi, in the Haut-Katanga province, on Saturday was stopped for unexplained reasons.

According to airport sources, the flight plans of two planes chartered for this trip were also not signed, thus blocking the flights.

All the collaborators of the former president, who is now Honorary President, who were to undertake the trip and who were already at N’djili International Airport for formalities, have returned home.

So far, no official information of this decision has been released but some sources say the trip was cancelled for security reasons.

These events come one day from Felix Tshisekedi's address to the nation after presidential consultations.

From 2-25 November, the Head of State received almost all layers of the population, as part of these consultations.

On the opposition side, Jean-Pierre Bemba and Moïse Katumbi have responded to the head of state's call. These consultations ended without the official participation of the Common Front for Congo (FCC), the political family of Kabila.
