Former CAF Executive Committee member, Abu Shweisha, dies

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Former Libyan Football Federation (LFF) General Secretary, Abdul Majid Abu Shweisha, has died.

Aged 80, Abu Shweisha passed on Monday, 27 July 2020, in Rome, Italy, after a long illness.

Abu Shweisha was one of the most prominent figures in Libyan football, and served as LFF General Secretary in the 1970s.

He was also a member of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), serving terms between 1976 and 1988. He played a great role to see Libya organize the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations, which remains to date the only time that Libya hosted the continent’s showpiece event.
