Fifteen Burkinabe soldiers killed in attack on army detachment

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - Some 15 Burkinabe soldiers were killed and 20 others went missing Friday in an attack on the military detachment of Namissiguima in north-central Burkina Faso, security sources said.

The brutal attack was carried out by several suspected terrorists, with 15 soldiers killed and 25 missing, the Sahel Security platform said.

Several soldiers were also injured, a security source told PANA, explaining that the attack was complex.

The Burkinabe government has not yet commented on the attack.

Burkina Faso has been the target of terrorist attacks since 2015, with several deaths and more than 1.8 million internally displaced people in the grip of a humanitarian crisis.
