FIFA eases rules for changing sports nationality

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The 70th FIFA Congress Friday at a videoconference adopted a revolutionary new law aimed at making the rules for changing sports nationality for footballers more flexible.

From now on, it will not be enough for a player to play even a part of an official match (excluding friendlies) with an A selection to become ineligible for another selection.

At the initiative of the Moroccan Royal Football Federation and its president, Fouzi Lekjaa, FIFA has revised its version.

From now on, therefore, the dual nationalities concerned will be able to change their nationality on condition, however, that they started for the A national team before the age of 21 or played a maximum of three matches with the concerned A national team, and had not taken part in the final phase of a major international tournament with the national team concerned or been called up for at least three years.
