Fayez al-Sarraj discusses with youth representatives ways out the Libyan crisis

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Libyan President of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, has discussed with representatives of the youth and sports sector how to get the country out of the current crisis Libya and the Tripoli war.

The discussion, held on Saturday, was part of the national consultations begun in recent days with the various components of the Libyan society as a prelude to the proposed national conference.

Armed clashes have raged in the country  since 4 April with forces of the Libyan National Army (LNA), which is based in the east and led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, fighting troops of the Army loyal to the GNA, which is recognised by the international community.

Speaking at this meeting in Tripoli in the presence of Vice President of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maitig, and President of the Youth and Sports Authority, Bachir Kantari, Mr. al-Sarraj said that the meeting aimed to "think together in the most effective way to get out of the crisis.''

He added that the battle will not end "by stopping the fighting, since there are political and diplomatic battles, and we must be ready and able, through consultations, to deal with what can be proposed on the international plan without compromising the principles."

A conference on Libya was proposed for next autumn in Germany as part of the plan of UN envoy Ghassan Salamé, to find a way out of the crisis in Libya.

Fayez al-Sarraj has held several meetings with the aim of finding a solution to the Libyan crisis, in a series of national consultations, including with members of the House of Representatives, the intellectual elite as well as political, cultural and social actors.

Salamé said he is following these consultations, hoping they will help find a consensual solution in Libya.
