Entente Council sympathizes with Burkina Faso following recent terrorist attacks

Cotonou, Benin PANA) - The Executive Secretariat of the Entente Council Saturday expressed its sympathy with the pain of the Burkinabe people following the recent successive attacks in the north of he country, a statement received by PANA said.

"The Executive Secretariat of the Entente Council has learned with deep emotion and indignation the successive attacks of March 13, 2022 on the axis Dori-Kaya, in the Province of Namentenga, and March 14, 2022 in Arbinda, in the Sahel Region, in northern Burkina Faso."

The Council said it deplored these attacks which resulted in many victims and wounded in the ranks of the Mobile Gendarmerie of Dori, among whom were Volunteers for the Defence of the Fatherland and civilians. 

" Deeply saddened by these serious terrorist attacks that have plunged Burkina Faso into mourning, the Council expresses its deepest sympathy and solidarity with the authorities, the people of Burkina Faso and the families of the victims," the statement added.

A Council mission is being deployed to the country to assess, with the highest authorities, the humanitarian needs arising from the security crisis, in order to enable it to propose a "humanitarian initiative" to support internally displaced persons and people in distress.
