EU invites Sudan's PM to attend ministerial meeting in Brussels

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - The Sudanese government on Friday announced that Prime Minister Dr Abdullah Hamdouk has received an official invitation to take part in a meeting of the European Union ministers for foreign affairs set to take place in Brussels next week.

The official media on Friday said he will fly to Brussels on Sunday at the invitation of Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

The EU had earlier promised to provide Khartoum with a package of over 460 million euros. The Sudanese prime minister’s delegation comprises economic experts and officials.

Last Wednesday a high-level European Union delegation led by Jean-Christophe Belliard, deputy secretary general of the European Union External Action Service, arrived in Khartoum for a two-day official visit.

The EU delegation comprised the director general for International Cooperation and Development, Koen Doens and the EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Alexander Rondos.
