ECOWAS: Ouagadougou summit on terrorism is an opportunity to take strong measures - Kaboré

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, said on Wednesday that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism, scheduled for Saturday in Ouagadougou, is an opportunity to take strong action in this geographical area.

"Terrorism has no borders, and all the countries in the region are concerned, and this summit will be an opportunity for us to take strong and urgent regional measures to stop terrorism in our community space," said Kaboré, who is also acting president of G5 Sahel.

The Burkinabe President received the President of the Commission of the (ECOWAS), Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, with whom he exchanged views on the preparations for this special session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government on terrorism in the ECOWAS area.

"We are confident that this summit will not only be important, but it will also mark a turning point in the fight against terrorism in our region," said Brou.

The extraordinary summit is a recommendation of the last ordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government, held last June in Abuja, Nigeria.
