ECOWAS Mediator for Burkina Faso arrives in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - The Mediator of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for Burkina Faso, Mahamadou Issoufou, arrived here on Friday.

He was welcomed at the Ouagadougou International Airport by the minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivia Rouamba.

Issoufou, who is in Ouagadougou to assess the situation before the ECOWAS Summit to be held in Accra on 3 July, will have a working session with the prime minister, Albert Ouédraogo and audiences with the political class, customary and religious authorities and the Permanent Secretary of La Francophonie, the Burkinabe presidency announced in a statement.

A meeting with the President of Burkina Faso, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, will end the ECOWAS mediator's stay Saturday 2 July 2022.

This is the second mission of Issoufou to Ouagadougou as ECOWAS Mediator since his appointment.
